Not all Cotons are white, some have champagne or grey/black spots on the ears which according to the standard is allowed.
Characterization:
The Coton has no undercoat which means that there is no moulting period, the dogs skin does not shed dandruff which is the cause of most allergies to dogs, and when the Coton is wet it does not smell of dog. These advantages mean that it is not necessary to trim the dog. You just have to brush it.
Above all the Coton loves children and is a real family dog.
Personality:
The best word for describing the Coton is "clown". They love to play and when they can see that you are enjoying it they intensify the game.
Being tickled behind the ears is the Cotons idea of ecstasy. The Coton has a funny way of using its mouth. It looks as if they can talk to you.
The Coton is a very obedient dog. If you say that you don’t feel like playing then they accept your wishes.
History:
The Coton is originally from Madagascar. The breed was first recognized in Europe by the FCI in France in 1971 and was introduced into Denmark in 1990.
